November 2nd is the Mexican celebration known as “Dia de los muertos”, a tradition with pre-columbian roots that has been part of Mexico’s culture for over 3000 years . This is a festive day, were beloved family members, friends, celebrities or pets who have passed away are celebrated and remembered. The Art class would like to take this opportunity to learn about another culture and compare it to other traditions around the world. While learning about mexican folk art students will be creating their own composition of drawings and sculpted objects to celebrate their beloved one’s life. Our installations  will then participate in the whole campus “Dia de los muertos” exhibition (November 1st).

BEcause creativity is a process

Students practice time management skills. They plan ahead and break their workload into days. Students take ownership of their work and teacher becomes facilitator.  They plan, discuss, follow the plan, make changes, make mistakes and solve problems.
