                                    Art meets science

                           Observation + imagination

This Fall, we will be celebrating the work of artist Jose Guadalupe Posada whose work is strongly associated with "Dia de los muertos". The art class will take this opportunity to learn about another culture and create an installation to commemorate this day.

Kindergarten students will be working on getting to know the skeletal system. They will explore using models, x-rays and other artist's scientific drawings. Throughout the project students will practice sketching, cutting skills, identify spatial relationships between subjects and most importantly see themselves as artists and have fun.

XX-rays

Through play, kindergarteners took the challenge to put this human x-ray puzzle together. They paid close attention to clues within the images and themselves making sure lines and bones are aligned.

Observational Drawing

Students slow down, look closely and reflect upon what they see.
